With Sao Paulo being an enormous city, you must be wondering what areas of the city are more gay friendly and what part of town has the biggest concentration of cafés, clubs and the likes.
The area around Jardins and the famous Frei Caneca shopping center – a 10 avenue by 10 streets should put you right in place.
The Sao Paulo gay community enjoys an array of options – day and night. The city does not sleep.
Aside from the numerous gay bars, discos, cafes and restaurants there is also the famous gay shopping center at Frei Caneca which is also referred to as “Shopping Gay Caneca”, which comes complete with a food court ideal for cruising.
The Jardins area is one of the main gay friendly neighborhoods in Sao Paulo where gays can find great accommodation at hotels such as the London Othon Flat Hotel and the Blue Tree Towers Paulista Hotel, located a block from Paulista Avenue next to the Art Museum where the annual Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade kicks off each year.
Start by checking one of the bars – The Ritz is small but a very good start – and get acquainted with hundreds of options, including a dozen circuit-like rave parties, taking place during the Gay Pride Parade long weekend.
The Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade is set to quick off this Sunday June 26 at around Noon.
