The Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade is the largest event of its kind in the world and is one of the major tourist attractions in Brazil, receiving official support from the city government of Sao Paulo, as well as the federal and state governments.
Over 3.2 million people attended the last parade held in 2009, which remains one of the most successful to-date. This annual event is normally held in June at the beginning of the Brazilian winter when temperatures are lower and it is less likely to rain. Promoted by the APOGLBT (Associacao da Parada do Orgulho de Gays, Lesbicas, Bissexuais e Travestis e Transexuais), the 14th Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade is scheduled for June 6, 2010 and is turning out to be one not to miss.
