Why on Earth is Sao Paulo Gay Pride the Largest?

The Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade is the largest in the world. 3.5 million people attended the 14th edition of the annual Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade, held in 2010. The March is the main event and draws the attention of the press and hundreds of thousands of curious onlookers who align themselves along the routes of the parade to watch participants in lavish Carnival-style costumes riding on large floats while Djs great pump music. The parade is 2.6 miles long (4.2 km) and begins from Avenida Paulista at noon. It takes the Rua da Consolacao, and then ends at Praça Rooselvelt, in Downtown Sao Paulo, at around 10 PM.
